The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the part-time position of Adjunct Instructor for the Automotive Technician Development Training class at the Clarksville Campus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience, including shop experience, in the Automotive Mechanics field within the last five (5) years.
  • Current ASE certifications highly preferred.
  • Must possess computer skills.
  • Strong hands-on technical background in the field of instruction.
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in the diagnosis and service of various automotive systems.

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with students.
  • Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

GENERAL DUTIES: The Adjunct Instructor in the Automotive Technician Development Training (ATDT) class is responsible for providing in-person individualized theory and hands-on instruction to students to provide an accelerated education and career path for employment in the Automotive Mechanics field. Areas of instruction include tools and equipment and the diagnostics and service of batteries, electrical systems, engines, emission control, ignition systems, fuel injection systems, restraint systems, antilock brakes/traction control/stability control, air conditioning and detailed diagnosis and service. The ATDT Adjunct Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation, and submit timely reports. This part-time position is not eligible for benefits and reports to the Director of the Clarksville Campus. Scheduled work hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

SALARY: $30.00 per hour. Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
