Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for an Accounts Payable Support Associate at its Murfreesboro campus. The Accounts Payable Support Associate reports to the Finance and Business Operations Coordinator. The person in this role will be responsible for outgoing payments and duties will include verifying vendor invoices, matching invoices with purchase orders and processing payments promptly. This person will handle billing discrepancies and maintain payment records in compliance with TBR and federal policies and standards.

Job Duties

• Perform Accounts Payable transactions for the college. • Collect delivery tickets for purchases, receive into Jaggaer system, and submit invoices in Jaggaer. • Manage Accounts Payable mailbox, including routing invoices to appropriate parties and communicating between vendors and department deans and managers. • Apply accounting codes to Jaggaer requisitions and forward carts to Finance Coordinator for approval. • Oversee AP documentation folder to ensure timely payments to vendors; research and solve discrepancies on invoices for Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments to vendors. • Assist with open purchase order listing reconciliations. • Document business transactions. • Train college personnel to initiate requested purchases through the Jaggaer system. • Assist the Finance and Business Operations Coordinator with various analyses, reports and duties. • Reconcile and track monthly bookstore commission earnings. • Maintain strict confidentiality as it relates to the financial information, state and federal reports and any other information generated from the Business Office and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro. • Assist the Finance and Business Operations Coordinator with various analyses, reports and duties. • Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or higher plus four or more years of successful full-time paid employment in accounting, including maintaining or reviewing financial records and reconciling accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
• Prior government accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
• Evidence of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and QuickBooks.
• Good oral and written communication skills; ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
• Ability to prioritize projects, attend to multiple processes simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Logical problem-solving skills for researching and reconciling accounts.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application, and an understanding of applicable Federal and State laws.
• Good math skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to concentrate/focus for long periods.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Walking, bending, sitting, and squatting in order to operate campus equipment. 
  • Able to use body members (arms, hands, fingers), tools, or special devices to work, move, guide, or place objects.
  • Communicating for brief periods.
  • Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
  • Requires concentrated mental and visual attention; i.e., see at close range.
  • Lifting 20 lbs.

Salary Range:

This is a full-time non-exempt position.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education and experience according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.  Salary range:  $33,000 to $42,000.
