Title: Adjunct Instructor, Automotive Technology

Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is accepting applications for the position of part-time Automotive Technology Adjunct Instructor to be located at the Huntsville campus. Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. A high standard of personal and professional ethics with a sincere interest in teaching is desired.

Job Duties

• Prepare syllabi of courses of study with detailed lesson plans and follow the established curriculum of the Automotive Technology program.
• Teach and instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, and/or audio-visual aids.
• Administer tests to evaluate student progress.
• Provide individual evaluation of each student’s progress with counseling and appropriate recommendations when required.
• Maintain all confidential student academic records related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.).
• Maintain good public relations with industry partners.
• Maintain ongoing competencies required for ASE certification by participating in continuing education opportunities to remain current in the field.
• Accurately prepare and submit all required documentation/reports by set deadlines.
• Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the industry.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for student learning.
• Source and request needed instructional supplies and equipment necessary for proper student instruction.
• Inspect equipment and supplies to ensure operational safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Diploma from an accredited training program in Automotive Technology
• Minimum of three (3) years’ related work experience
• Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher
• Must commit to remain current in the Automotive profession and maintain program accrediting status
• Must show evidence of teaching ability
• Must have ability to interact with students
• Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality
• Must possess computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician
• Teaching experience

Salary:   Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines
