POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:   Adjunct/Substitute Instructor (POOL)     CLASSIFICATION:      Part-time - Non-exempt -Hourly     DIRECT SUPERVISION FROM:  VP of Academics and Compliance     OFFICE LOCATION(S): Main Campus, 2905 US 231 N, Shelbyville, TN   Franklin County Campus, 925 Dinah Shore Blvd, Winchester, TN   Lincoln Central Academy, 204 Union St, Fayetteville, TN     HOURS: Monday - Friday, Days or Evenings   (maximum 29 hours/week)     HOURLY WAGE: $25 to $30 per hour, commensurate with experience and   TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines

FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

We are seeking to build a pool of Adjunct/Substitute Instructors for our various programs.  These include:

  • Automotive Technology
  • Computer Aided Design Technology
  • Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration
  • Industrial Maintenance Automation
  • Information Technology and Infrastructure Management
  • Machine Tool Technology
  • Practical Nursing
  • Residential, Commercial, Industrial Electricity
  • Truck Driving
  • Welding Technology

If you have solid work experience and applicable skills in the fields or programs we offer, we would like to consider sharing your knowledge on a part-time basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.
  • Deliver instruction using effective teaching methods and supervision principles.
  • Utilize in-class assessment tools and techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.
  • Administer and proctor tests for students and outside organizations.
  • Record and submit grades and attendance (including tardiness and absences) daily using Banner.
  • Distribute course syllabus at the beginning of each class, outlining competencies, grading procedures, attendance policies, and other essential information.
  • Provide guidance to students regarding course progress, academic concerns, and disciplinary issues.
  • Coordinate disciplinary matters with administration and the Student Services Coordinator.
  • Monitor and request necessary program supplies; make recommendations for instructional materials.
  • Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule; start and end classes on time.
  • Conduct student surveys each trimester and participate in scheduled staff climate surveys.
  • Check and respond to emails twice daily.
  • Coordinate absences with the VP of Operations to align with student breaks.
  • Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
  • Work experience in the area being taught.
  • Minimum of 3 years of approved work experience in the occupation preferred.
  • Technical teaching experience preferred.
  • Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications required for teaching.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, plan and direct work, and express ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs. and move around the teaching area to demonstrate and perform occupational tasks (with or without accommodation).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and tact in all interactions.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
