Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is accepting applications for a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor working in the Adult Education program.

This position provides instruction in adult education for the six educational functioning levels to students with varying academic levels. The instructor interacts with students, provides instructional and registration / intake related services for potential and current students.

Job Duties

  • Plan, teach, and evaluate student work - (Essential)
  • Provide instruction for digital education - (Essential)
  • Assist with graduation - (Marginal)
  • Assist with student registration, assessment, orientation/counseling, class assignments, attendance, and student goals - (Essential)
  • Administer and interpret assessment scores for CASAS/TABE/HiSET OPT Exams for student placement and instruction - (Essential)
  • Organize and maintain confidential program and student files as well as report documentation, including maintaining class attendance and sign-in sheets - (Essential)
  • Provide office coverage and customer service when necessary - (Essential)
  • Maintain technical knowledge by engaging in opportunities to improve or increase skills - (Essential)
  • Contribute to team effort - (Essential)
  • Maintain time and effort documentation - (Essential)
  • Work toward classroom improvement based on program goals - (Essential)
  • Post-test all students after 40 hours of instruction - (Essential)
  • Maintain student files for the purpose of tracking students for post-testing - (Essential)
  • Work with Leadership Team to develop a program that supports students' progression through the National Report System levels - ensuring level gains - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
Must be able to travel to satellite class locations when necessary
Must participate in local and state activities or staff development

Preferred Qualifications

TN Teacher’s License preferred, college transcript, or approved waiver
Experience in an adult education environment
Knowledge of data management systems
Demonstrated content knowledge of current Adult Education curriculum and recommended resources
Work as a team member

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attentive to detail, flexible, and manage stressful situations
Possess strong interpersonal communication skills and maintain focus with job responsibilities
Ability to work with a variety of individuals / students
Proficient oral and written communication skills and strong organizational skills
Knowledge of and skill using data entry software
Analytical skills and the ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
Aware of effective customer service practices and ability to implement them within an educational setting
Accept new tasks and responsibilities in a positive/professional manner
Contribute to team effort
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
Travel to satellite class locations if necessary
Participate in local and state activities / staff development
Demonstrate command of content knowledge of current Adult Education Curriculum and recommended resources

Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology and Tennessee Board of Regents salary guidelines
