Title: Assistant Coach- Men's Basketball

Institution: Jackson State Community College

Job Summary:

Jackson State Community College is seeking a qualified candidate for the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Position. This position will assist the Head Coach with the organization, planning, and coaching of the JSCC Basketball Team.

Job Duties:

  • 90% - The assistant coach instructs and teaches the fundamentals of basketball technique and strategy. This position will assist with duties including but not limited to: recruitment of student-athletes, travel planning, equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance, transportation coordinator and driver, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Typical duties will include coaching, possessing the technical knowledge and teaching skills to prepare basketball student-athletes for competitions. Recruit prospective student-athletes to participate in basketball and ensure compliance with both national and college policies. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Prior coaching experience
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate sports operations, NJCAA, and TCCAA regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work with a diverse population, within a highly dynamic, university setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel extensively during the recruiting process

Pay Rate: $15.00/hour

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
