Assistant Coordinator of the Academic Success Center-JNC

The Assistant Coordinator of the Academic Success Center is a full-time, 12-month position, located at the Jimmy Naifeh Center in Covington, TN.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Academic Success Center during open lab times at the JNC, including maintaining student files and security related to testing, tutoring, and data associated with the ASC JNC.
  • Occasionally travel to alternate DSCC locations for meetings and training.
  • Work daily with the ASC Director on tutoring, open lab schedules, Accuplacer workshops, and test prep instructions.
  • Provide assistance with recruitment, contract creation, timesheet management, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of tutors at the JNC Academic Success Center.
  • Become familiar with and support students with using the academic software that is integrated in courses offered at the College.
  • Assist with campus events that promote the Academic Success Center.
  • Maintain check out list for ASC hardware and software issued to students and instructors.
  • Respond to email, phone, and other communication inquiries related to the ASC in a timely manner.
  • When needed, meet with colleagues in all other student support service areas to coordinate learning plans for students who are receiving support in multiple areas.
  • Use Faculty Feedback and Early Warning grades to reach out to students and provide them with needed academic support.
  • Schedule lab time for classes and assist instructors working in the ASC.
  • Run TutorTrac and ARGOS reports as needed.
  • Counsel, motivate, and tutor students located on the Jimmy Naifeh Center.
  • Serve on college committees.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary: Desk work; travel may be required for college or program activities, trainings, and/or meetings. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Must communicate well in oral and written English and work well with others.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•    Associate Degree in one of the disciplines offered at DSCC.

•    Experience working with students in a tutoring setting.

•    6 months to 1-year supervisory experience, preferable in an academic setting.

•    Proficiency in Word, Excel and other Microsoft software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Experience in a community college setting.

•    Bachelor’s degree in one of the disciplines offered at DSCC.

Minimum starting pay is $34,400 annually ($17.65 per hour). With additional experience, pay increases to a maximum pay of $41,300.
