Title: Assistant Director of Athletics

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Athletics assists in the overall management and administration of the athletics department at Volunteer State Community College. This position supports the Director of Athletics in ensuring compliance with institutional, conference, and NJCAA regulations while promoting student-athlete success and program development.
Job Duties:
Athletic Administration and Compliance: Assist in the daily operations of the athletics department, including scheduling, budgeting, and program oversight. Ensure compliance with NJCAA, TCCAA, and college policies regarding eligibility, recruiting, reporting, purchasing, and travel among other things. Support efforts related to Title IX compliance and student-athlete welfare. Work with coaches to monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes. Manage game-day operations, including facility preparation, staffing, and event management. Student-Athlete Development and Support: Promote a student-centered environment that emphasizes academic success, leadership, and character development. Assist with student-athlete recruitment and retention initiatives. Develop and implement programs related to career development, life skills, and wellness for student-athletes. Budgeting and Fundraising: Assist in preparing and managing budgets for athletics programs. Work with the Director of Athletics to identify fundraising opportunities and secure sponsorships. Coordinate fundraising activities and community engagement initiatives. Public Relations and Marketing: Serve as a liaison between the athletics department and college administration, media, and community stakeholders, and work to disseminate sports information. In conjunction with Marketing, Communications, and Media Services, oversee athletics marketing, social media, and promotional efforts to enhance visibility and engagement. Collaborate with student organizations and campus departments to promote school spirit and attendance at games. Facilities and Equipment Management: Assist in managing the maintenance and scheduling of athletic facilities. Coordinate the procurement, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment and uniforms. Working with Academic Affairs, manage the Fitness Center to include but not limited to scheduling hours of operation, maintaining fitness equipment, and providing information for users which educates them concerning fitness equipment safety protocol. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, business administration, or a related field and three years of experience in collegiate athletics or coaching OR Master’s degree in sports management, physical education, business administration, or a related field and one year of experience in collegiate athletics or coaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in sports management, physical education, business administration, or a related field.
Experience with NJCAA compliance regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student population.
Commitment to student development.
Demonstrated knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, athletic management software, and social media platforms.
Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.
Pay Rate: $62,385 - $77,981 annual salary depending on experience
