Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships, this position will lead and manage the Recruiting & Orientation staff, while also coordinating the day to day operations of the Recruiting & Orientation office within the combined Early College, Recruiting, and Orientation office. This position will also work with the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships, the Assistant Director of Early College & High School Partnerships, and other relevant parties to develop and implement a strategic enrollment management plan focused on matriculating dual enrollment students as full-time college students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Innovation

  • Coordinate the Recruiting and Orientation office’s day to day activities across Chattanooga State’s three campuses and service area.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator of all on campus recruiting events such as but not limited to open house/preview days, campus tours, and TigerMomentum events.
  • Assist the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships with implementing and maintaining standardize operating policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships with developing and executing short-term and long-term recruitment goals. 
  • Serve as the Recruiting & Orientation Office’s expert for Banner, Slate, Zogotech, and other relevant software/programs.

Holistic Student Support  

  • Assist the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships with developing and leading an orientation committee, which will be responsible for all orientation events.
  • Assist the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships with monitoring and coordinating follow up on EdSights Admit communication.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School partnerships in regards to managing the Gateway Scholars program and other target population student recruitment and support initiatives.

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Monitor and track Recruiting & Orientation expenditures, and assist the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management & High School Partnerships with managing the Recruiting & Orientation budget.
  • Oversee and monitor departmental spending and purchasing procedures.

Organizational Culture

  • Supervise all Recruiting & Orientation staff members, while jointly supervising Rural Outreach Specialist position with the Assistant Director of Early College.
  • Coordinate supervision of student ambassadors with the Campus Tour Coordinator, and the Recruiting & Orientation Administrative Assistant.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Recruiting & Orientation office, and other Chattanooga State Community College offices in order to better consolidate and concentrate the college’s recruiting efforts. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND WORK CHARACTERISTICS 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in higher education in a recruiting, outreach, or orientation position OR have minimum 3 years’ experience working in a high school setting in a counselor, college career advisor, or teacher position.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Extensive experience working in a customer service or educational setting, preferably at a postsecondary institution is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Online and other commonly used office applications.
  • Prefer experience working with a student information system such as Ellucian and/or Slate products.
  • Comfortable working in a stressful, fast-paced environment with a high level of sensitivity towards confidentiality, and working with a diverse student population.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone, use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range: $53,429 - $66,786
