Title: Assistant Director, Student Success Center
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director will serve as a leader within the Student Success Center providing additional strategic vision and direction for all student success, advising and onboarding activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates a comprehensive program of academic, advisement, career and financial aid support services for students. Directly supervises a team of student success advisors. Oversees recruitment of new NashGRAD & Flex participants, including coordination with other College offices and MNPS schools. Develops and implements strategies to improve retention and performance of NashGRAD & Flex students in collaboration with student success advisors and career services staff.
Manages a caseload of students in order to identify student goals and objectives, manage academic progress and recommend appropriate referrals/opportunity programs. This includes tracking data and maintaining case notes for each assigned student. Advises students on-ground and virtually. Prepares reports for the college leadership, College Foundation, Metro Davidson City Council and other constituents as needed. Strategizes with faculty and other College staff as needed to improve student support services. Supports annual recruiting and registration activities. Assists with developing and implementing a variety of institutional retention activities. Attends campus and community meetings to provide outreach and marketing information. Oversees department operations in the absence of the director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a related field
Two (2) years’ experience in a higher education setting in student services and/or advising
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior community college work experience
Two (2) years’ supervisory or management
Prior experience overseeing student programs or services
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
