Job Summary

The Assistant Professor of Accounting, 9 Month is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom and related activities. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during assigned times. The teaching assignment may include ground classes, online classes, virtual classes, day and evening classes, and teaching at off-campus locations. The instructor will operate under the supervision of the Dean of Business, CIT and Engineering Systems.

Job Duties

  • 80% - o Prepares and delivers lectures on accounting topics required for business AAS and AS degree programs. o Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, assignments, tests, and papers; keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work. o Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts for their assigned courses. o Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records. - (Essential)
  • 10% - o Assist with program planning and evaluation. o Assist with program’s Advisory Committee meetings. o Assist with student advising. o Participate in recruitment and marketing activities. o Attends faculty meetings, college assemblies, orientation activities, and other meetings. o Participates on committees at the department, college, or state levels. - (Essential)
  • 5% - o Maintain compliance with the ACBSP standards for instruction. - (Essential)
  • 5% - o Other duties as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field with at least eighteen (18) credit hours in graduate level Accounting from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as an Accounting instructor at the college level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $46,039 - $55,247 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
