Job Summary

Roane State Community College is seeking qualified applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Communications at Scott, Campbell, and Anderson Counties.

Job Duties

  • Teach speech communications courses at the Campbell, Scott, and Anderson County sites.
  • Teach speech communications courses for Middle College and Dual Enrollment programs.
  • Serve on departmental and college-wide committees as assigned.
  • Advise students and hold office hours.
  • Provide service to the college through active involvement in the academic festival, convocation, division and program meetings, and other assigned events.
  • Teach 15 course hours per semester and schedule a minimum of 15 office hours per week.
  • The ability to teach during the Summer or Winter Term may or may not be offered.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through action-research projects, grant development, or conference participation.
  • Respond promptly to requests from the Dean’s office.
  • Collaborate with faculty, curriculum chair, and academic leadership about curricular and programmatic issues and needs.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques including the use of technology.
  • Travel to multiple campuses as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Communications, Oratory or Speech or master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Communications, Oratory or Speech
• At least three years of successful teaching experience at the community college level.
• Teaching experience with alternative delivery methods such as online, interactive, synchronous, and hybrid.

• Teaching experience in a community college setting. Knowledge of the role and purpose of the community college in higher education. Willingness to work with diverse student populations who represent a wide range of academic ability.

• Evidence of excellent organizational and planning skills.
