Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, planning, coordination, general supervision, coaching and evaluation for the programs/departments within Student Services that are considered part of enrollment services and student success which exist to identify the needs of students as they progress from application to completion. This position directly supervises and provides oversight management for Financial Aid, Testing, and the Senior Director of Student Success. A primary objective of this position is to ensure that all student populations are served well through utilizing best practices by working with all areas of the college collaboratively to identify and address and mitigate for barriers in the areas of enrollment, retention, persistence, completion, and transfer. This position will also support the Vice President in developing and executing well-planned strategies and tactics to reach the institutional enrollment goals and with overall management of the Division while working closely with other areas, including regional campuses to ascertain service gaps in the student life cycle, and to eliminate those challenges.

Job Duties:

Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and mentoring support for the Student Success area, with specific supervision over Financial Aid, Testing, and the Senior Director for Student Success. Provide strategic direction related the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and the College Strategic Plan to increase enrollment and improve student success. Identifies areas for growth and improvement within areas of responsibility by staying current with research, best practices, and by continually evaluating internal practices and business processes, and changes in the environment and student needs. Develop and analyze risk indicators of incoming and continuing students that will impact retention, persistence, and graduation rates with the intention of increasing those rates through strategies developed to improve student engagement, services, and programming. Create and maintain a comprehensive assessment and learning outcomes plan, ensuring that all student success initiatives, programs, and interventions are systematically evaluated for effectiveness; utilize the assessment results to drive continuous improvement, and demonstrate the impact of student support services on enrollment, persistence, retention, and completion outcomes. Work with regional campus leadership, assist in the development of specific enrollment and student success strategies and tactics related to the regional campuses and the student demographic they serve, to achieve prescribed enrollment and student success goals. Work with the Office of Financial Aid, develop and maintain strategies to assist students with funding their higher education pursuits while maintaining satisfactory academic progress. This also includes working closely with the Volunteer State Community College Foundation to ensure that students are provided with opportunities for funding when and as needed. Provide guidance to the Senior Director of Student Success as it relates to new student orientation for general and specialized populations. Partner with Academic Affairs to promote and support the first-year experience program which leads students through the transition to college from high school or other milestone or circumstance that will teach students how to access college resources needed to be successful and how to transition from a community college to a four-year university setting or to a work environment. Oversee persistence, retention, and completion initiatives (i.e., Early Alert program) which are developed and maintained using historical and current data as well as best practices research, that provide the necessary intervention, service, and support for students in a timely manner which aids and encourages students to graduation or transfer. Work closely with Marketing, Communications, and Media Services to ensure short- and long-term marketing strategies align with enrollment and student success goals, the college’s strategic plan and the mission of the college which will assist in the development of communication strategies for a variety of market segments to address prospective and current students. Review and update regularly, in consultation with senior leadership and using appropriate data sources, the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan, ensuring that it aligns with the Strategic Marketing Plan, the College’s Strategic Plan and the mission of the College while adhering to the principles of equity and diversity. Assist the Vice President with the development of the annual Division of Student Services budget, and development, implementation, and monitoring of the Continuous Improvement Plans, especially those related to the areas directly supervised but also related to division and college wide planning. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree.
Five years of related experience.
Progressive supervisory and leadership experience managing staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university.
Higher education experience.
Student Services experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.
Must have strong leadership, human relations, and communications skills, including effective public speaking skills.
Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office products, ERP solutions, and other related software.
Excellent organization skills along with being detailed oriented.
Thorough understanding of enrollment management models and processes.
Database management, statistical data interpretation, and application of state-of-the art information technology as applied to enrollment management practices and programs.

Pay Rate: $75,057 - $93,821 annual salary depending on experience
