Associate Instructor Digital Agronomy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge with a strong technical background in precision agriculture or crop production.
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful experience in agricultural setting within the last five years.
  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Agriculture or related field required.
  • Knowledgeable of a variety of agricultural technologies including sensors, handhelds, drones, and comfortable working with industry-standard software.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel to work-based learning sites within the college service area.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current FAA Drone Pilot License.
  • A.S. or B.S. Degree in Agriculture or related field preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

 

SKILLS:

  • Possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with postsecondary and secondary students as well as the public and other employees.
  • Must be willing to learn and use classroom management best practices and individualized instructional techniques.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the Digital Agronomy profession.
  • Must possess a general knowledge of mechanical skills, general welding skills, basic electricity, and farm maintenance skills.
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
  • Evidence of potential teaching ability.
  • Must possess the computer skills necessary to be an effective instructor.

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Create and provide individualized classroom, lab, and field work instruction to postsecondary and secondary students to prepare them for employment in Digital Agronomy fields.
  • Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students’ performance and progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; prepare and submit timely reports.
  • Participate in in-service training, workshops, and other programs for professional growth.
  • Assist in the recruitment and placement of students.
  • Maintain frequent contact with schools, businesses, and industry to identify their training needs, keep instructional material updated, promote the ideals of technical education, and implement an effective placement program for students.
  • Participate in student organizations (SkillsUSA, National Technical Honor Society, etc.).
  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean lab and/or classroom.
  • Be responsible for equipment and supplies assigned to the lab and/or classroom.
  • Maintain an active Program Advisory Committee and cooperate with outside agencies.
  • Plan and initiate Program Advisory Committee meetings and maintain records of meetings on a regular schedule.
  • Teach the Work Ethics curriculum.
  • Supervise and follow-up on students participating in Work-Based Activities.
  • Perform other duties as directed and assigned by the administration.

 

SALARY:

In accordance with guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.
