Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville, is accepting applications for the position of an Industrial Electricity instructor to be located at the Ruth and Steve West Workforce Development Center. This position will work 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm with a thirty-minute lunch.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
• A technical diploma or Associate degree in the Electrical field is highly preferred. Consideration will be given to a comparable combination of education, journeyman license, and directly related experience.
• Must possess a high degree of knowledge of all areas involved in the diesel field
• Must have a minimum of three years of full-time related work experience.
• Must become an NCCER Certified Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience and NCCER certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must have a strong hands-on technical background in all aspects of Industrial Electricity.
• Must be proficient in residential, commercial, and industrial electricity with extensive knowledge
• of the National Electrical Code
• Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher.
• Must commit to remain current in the field of Industrial Electricity.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess computer skills and the ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Environment: Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. The majority of work performed (30 hours per week) will be instructing and training students, with the remaining 7.5 hours utilized for grading, recording attendance, and individual student meetings.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom and shop setting; to see and discern color, since electrical wiring is often color-coded; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to stand and climb ladders; and to effectively communicate to exchange information.
SALARY: In accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines, within the range of $55,983 - $67,181.
