Title: Associate Instructor, Practical Nursing

Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is accepting applications for the position of full-time Practical Nursing Associate Instructor to be located at the Huntsville campus. Instructor will work under the direction of the Coordinator of Nursing and Allied Health. A high standard of personal and professional ethics with a sincere interest in teaching and nursing is desired.

Job Duties

• Prepare syllabi of courses of study with detailed lesson plans and follow the established curriculum of the Practical Nursing program.
• Teach and instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, and/or audio-visual aids.
• Administer tests to evaluate student progress.
• Provide individual evaluation of each student’s progress with counseling and appropriate recommendations when required.
• Maintain all confidential student academic records related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.).
• Supervise students’ clinical experiences as scheduled.
• Assist in recruitment and placement of students.
• Maintain good public relations with clinical partners.
• Maintain ongoing competencies required for RN licensure by participating in continuing education opportunities to remain current in the field.
• Accurately prepare and submit all required documentation/reports by set deadlines.
• Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the industry.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for student learning.
• Source and request needed instructional supplies and equipment necessary for proper student instruction.
• Inspect equipment and supplies to ensure operational safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with active license in Tennessee as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Minimum of three (3) years’ nursing experience in a hospital and/or long-term nursing facility
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and walk, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects
• Must be available for after-hours work and/or overnight travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Teaching experience and/or supervisory experience preferred

Salary:   Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines
