Job Summary:
The Athletic Trainer is a 12 month staff position and is responsible for providing onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics. This includes injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The Athletic Trainer will collaborate with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Job Duties:
Provide onsite medical coverage for home practices, games, and athletic events. Provides onsite management of injuries and illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation. The position requires travel with athletic teams to conference and postseason tournaments. Document all patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records. Implement injury prevention programs tailored to individual athletes and teams. Educate student-athletes on injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation. Communicate with physicians, coaches, and staff regarding injury status and treatment plans. Ensure compliance with institutional, conference, and national governing body regulations related to sports medicine. Assist in managing the athletic training budget, including inventory, and purchasing of supplies. Mentor Vol State students interested in the field as applicable. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Board of Certification (BOC) certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification, or registration.
National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number required.
Three years of related experience.
Valid Driver’s License.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Collegiate-level athletic training experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applied knowledge of a broad range of medical conditions and injury management.
Strong assessment and evaluation skills.
Ability to make critical and independent decisions regarding treatment and return-to-play protocols.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with little supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records.
Ability to travel with the athletic teams.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Pay Rate: $43,888 - $53,873 annual salary depending on experience
