Athletics Web and Content Coordinator

The Athletics Marketing and Media Coordinator will support the Athletics department and the Division of External Affairs by creating high-end graphic design and video projects to be used as a recruiting tool and promote Dyersburg State Community College Athletics. The coordinator will be responsible for writing press releases, creating and maintaining a continuous brand presence across all social media platforms, updating and creating webpages, overseeing game-day technical operations while serving as a point of contact for all game-day equipment oversight.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Office of External Affairs to design marketing materials for the athletic department, including but not limited to schedule posters, rosters, infographics, social media graphics, and advertising graphics.
  • Assist with overarching sports marketing, communication, public relations campaigns, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Create enhanced videos highlighting all sports, working with professional staff on all aspects of video production, including but not limited to Hudl and ESPN+ live streams, and highlight packages.
  • Assist with the creation of marketing, communication, and creative content for social media to engage with fans.
  • Develop new ways to promote Dyersburg State Athletics’ programs while taking advantage of emerging technology, using current graphic trends and techniques within the sports design industry as a guideline.
  • Maintain and oversee the athletics.dscc.edu website, creating new pages and updating sports pages as needed to promote the department and individual sports.
  • Serve as a backup editor for the dscc.edu college website as needed.
  • Utilizes software such as Adobe Creative Suite software for both DVD/CD authoring and video editing, using AfterEffects, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, ProTools audio production software for producing radio spots, and Illustrator.
  • Establishes a procedure for maintaining DSCC photo archives.
  • Communicate and cooperate with Athletic Director on a regular basis on all developments with public relations potential and send all content to the Vice President of External Affairs for review.
  • Respond appropriately with the media so as not to demean student-athletes, the College, the TCCAA, or NJCAA, and all parties connected.
  • Immediately report anything controversial that may attract media attention to the Athletic Director and the Vice President of External Affairs.
  • Remain knowledgeable and in full compliance with the rules, regulations, and philosophies of the NJCAA, TCCAA, various regional affiliations, and Dyersburg State Community College.
  • Immediately report any potential violations, eligibility problems, rules infractions, or disciplinary action of student-athletes immediately to the Athletic Director.
  • Support Dyersburg State’s educational philosophy and the goals of the Athletic Department as a loyal, energetic, and highly visible representative.
  • Accept no speaking engagement for money, endorsements, or any other outside employment at any time without prior approval of the Athletic Director (or their designee).
  • Serves as backup game day administrator for the Director of Athletics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software for both DVD/CD authoring and video editing, AfterEffects, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, ProTools audio production software for producing radio spots, Illustrator, as well as other content production software such as BoxOut, Corel, and other editing/developing software. Previous knowledge of website management software such as Presto Sports, Drupal, WordPress, or other similar platforms. Demonstrated effectiveness in communication skills required. Excellent writing, grammar and spelling skills. Computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with, and proficient knowledge of digital and social media marketing. This includes, but is not limited to, Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Snapchat. Graphic design experience is highly preferred.

Preferred and Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Preferred qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, information technology, graphic design, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.

A minimum of an associate degree and two years of marketing or design experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

Minimum starting salary is $36,900 annually ($18.92 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $46,100.
