Clinical Laboratory Coordinator- Nursing

The Clinical Laboratory Coordinator for Nursing is a full-time 10-month clinical nursing technical position with responsibility for supervision of laboratory skills practice.  In addition, the Nursing Laboratory Coordinator will provide academic advising to current and prospective students and participate in departmental, divisional and institutional activities related to the college's mission.

This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus

Essential Functions:

  1. Supervise lab activities and support faculty in assessment of additional learning needs within the clinical environment.
  2. Maintain an environment conducive to learning.
  3. Be responsible for skills laboratory preparation.
  4. Develop inventory controls and maintain adequate equipment and supplies all labs.
  5. Assist with development of skills checklists.
  6. Maintain and supervise "open labs" on both campuses.
  7. Maintain both low-tech and high-tech equipment such as the human patient simulator (HPS).
  8. Serve as resource person for use and maintenance of the HPS.
  9. Supervise remediation in lab-clinical for students.
  10. Remain current in the discipline through appropriate professional development activities.
  11. Participate in curriculum and program development and revision.

Supplemental Functions:

  1. Participate in institutional and community activities that support the institution's mission.
  2. Support and follow all Columbia State, TBR and SACS policies and procedures.
  3. Assist with recruitment, admission and orientation of students.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Specifications:

 

Education, Training and Experience Required:

  1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; MSN preferred.
  2. Current licensure as RN in Tennessee (or eligible). 
  3. At least three years full-time professional nursing experience or teaching experience in a postsecondary education setting.
  4. BLS certified.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and in the language in which the course is being taught.
  2. Ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
  3. Ability to work cooperatively with students, colleagues and community members.
  4. Ability to travel to various campus locations.
  5. Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  6. Ability to facilitate skills development using a variety of instructional delivery modes.

 

Working Conditions:

  1. A minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, which may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend hours at any of the institution’s locations.
  2. Normal sitting and movement in a classroom
  3. The ability to manipulate and move equipment both in the laboratory setting and from one location to another.
  4. Ability to function fully within the laboratory setting.
  5. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform laboratory procedures.

Hiring Salary Range: $32,270- $38,710

This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus.
