Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the full-time Computer Information Technology Associate Instructor position at the Knoxville main campus. This position works 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm.

Job Duties

  • Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours. - (Essential)
  • Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi. - (Essential)
  • Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process. - (Essential)
  • Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities, including SkillsUSA, NTHS, graduation, and other events. - (Essential)
  • Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement as well as accreditation standards. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of Associate degree or equivalent post-secondary diploma from an accredited technical training program in Information Technology
• Three (3) years of related work experience in the information technology field within the last four years

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in CompTIA, A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft’s MCSA and MTA and Cisco’s CCNA are preferred
• Teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
• Indication of willingness to remain current in the information technology profession
• Must commit to acquiring and maintaining program accreditation(s)

SALARY:  In accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines of $49,159 - $58,991.
