POSITION SUMMARY

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for an Associate Instructor position in Computer Information Technology at Covington Branch Campus. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction, support student learning, and maintain a positive classroom and laboratory environment. The position places significant emphasis on teaching, evaluating student progress, and helping students develop the technical and employability skills needed for success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree or diploma from an accredited institution preferred or as required by program area; Relevant CompTIA certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Cloud+, and CySA+ are preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent hands-on experience in computer information technology, networking, cybersecurity, systems support, help desk support, computer repair, or a related IT field; five years preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, software installation, troubleshooting, networking fundamentals, cybersecurity practices, and end-user technical support.
  • Communication skills necessary to serve as an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of good character, organizational skills, professionalism, and mature judgment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, industry partners, faculty, and staff.
  • Skill in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to using technology in the teaching and learning process and staying current with instructional technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide instruction to students in all assigned phases of the Computer Information Technology curriculum.
  • Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students' progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; and submit timely reports.
  • Maintain positive public relations with related industries and support an active program advisory committee.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and industry partners to establish work-based learning experiences for students as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with K-12 education partners to support dual enrollment to full-time enrollment pathways as needed.
  • Support curriculum development, program accreditation, daily lesson planning, student recruitment and placement, graduate follow-up, professional development, and student organization activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of TCAT Northwest.

Salary is in accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines and the TCAT Northwest Compensation Plan. Background checks are conducted on all full-time and part-time employees prior to hiring.
