Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to provide assistance to students in a computer lab environment, assist instructors with specific lab projects, and maintain lab instrumentation and equipment for students and instructors use thereby meeting the essential functions of the job and improving the quality of student learning.
Essential Functions:
45% Provide assistance to instructors in CITC lab courses that use hands-on hardware/software resources, specifically Programming and Networking labs; which includes robotic software and repair, Linux, Database, and other programming language.
Networking and server administration skills, Routers and Switches configuration, Virtualization (VMWare, VSphere NETLAB, and Linux), Wireless communication, network cabling, fiber optic, electronic repair and computer hardware repair.
25% Modify instructional systems specific to CITC training needs. Assist faculty and students in setting up and regulated lab assignments and special projects. Which includes special software for projects for each student lab group and hardware setup,
15% Determine specifications for equipment needed for students' labs; requisition, tools, and supplies for classroom and lab. Administer servers. Install lab equipment software. Maintain, install and control equipment movement, Setup lab for each class per semester by WD imaging and hand load special software that can’t be deployed, Work with school IT department, Facilities and Purchasing
5% Supervise student employees and monitor the use of CSIT lab computers.
5% Professional Development (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA), and cybersecurity courses to stay updated on emerging technologies.
5% Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Computer Science Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or Electronics; 5 +year’s related work experience; knowledge of PCs, networks, servers, switch, ASA firewall, console servers, KVM switches and Mac-mini, database including operating systems windows, and Linux.
The job requires a strong educational background in networking technology, electronics, and programming skills. University level engineering is a plus along with Networking certifications and/ or related experience. Certification in Networking a plus.
Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

Physical Demands:Moderate, regular movement around the lab to set up, maintain, or troubleshoot equipment. Tasks may include lifting and transporting computers or peripherals, bending or kneeling to access hardware, and extended periods of standing or walking. Occasionally, heavier lifting or more strenuous physical activity may be needed for equipment installations or reconfigurations.
It would be very difficult to do this job without visual acuity because the position requires the tech to read digital and analog printouts from instrument. It would be difficult to perform this job without the ability to detect colors. The technician must be able to differentiate colors of wiring, cables and electronic parts.
Hazards: Possible like small cuts, muscle strain, or eye strain.
