Title: Coordinator of Student Engagement

Institution: Volunteer State Community College

Job Summary:

Provide planning, coordinating marketing, and student leader supervision, of student activities. Develop and maintain an innovative and comprehensive student leadership development program. Work with Manager of Student Engagement to provide meaningful and relevant programming to all Vol State Campuses.

Job Duties:

Develop and coordinate a schedule of educational and social events to create a high quality, vibrant, student life program that promotes student engagement and student success. Collaborate with faculty to develop programs to supplement in-class learning. In conjunction with Purchasing and Contracts and in alignment with Vol State procedures, negotiate and execute contracts with artists and agents to support calendar of events. Work with the Office of Marketing, Communications, and Media Services to implement plans for student activities and manage the campus activities calendar. Assist in coordinating and developing student engagement initiatives such as, but not limited to, wellness workshops and first-year experience programming to foster a supportive campus environment. Work with student organizations to guide groups on programming Develop and offer leadership training programs for student leaders and general student population. Serve as the primary advisor to the Student Government Association and the Campus Activities Board. Supervise the planning, organizing, and implementing of student organizations to include recruiting, training, and evaluating Student Organization advisors and members. Monitor the Student Government Association, Student Activities, and student organization budgets and oversee the distribution of the student activities fund/SGA account. Provide student activities support to Regional Centers. Work with other offices and division deans to support student activities. Assist with developing and maintain campus and community resource materials specific to each Vol State campus for students in need of community services. Assist with developing partnerships with local mental health agencies to provide resources and support for students experiencing emotional distress. In collaboration with the Manager of Student Engagement and key departments, coordinate student prevention programming and training to address drug and alcohol abuse, sexual misconduct, mental health issues, and other barriers to student success. Responsible for ensuring the ongoing assessment of all programs and services. Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Human Services, Counseling, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience in higher education and/or human/social services.
Project management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess excellent oral, written and decision-making skills.
Must be committed to a positive customer service philosophy and able to embrace varied ideas and viewpoints.
In conjunction with Purchasing and Contracts, must be able to negotiate contracts and operate within the confines of established policies, procedures, and rules.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $47,276 - $59,095 annual salary depending on experience
