Job Summary
This is a full-time permanent position under the supervision of the assigned Custodial Supervisor. The custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas and related work as required. He/she is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend at any Southwest Tennessee Community College location as assigned. Work is reviewed and evaluated through inspection of work performed. Specific duties may vary depending on the type of facility to be cleaned.
This position reports to the Union Ave campus with the working hours of Mon-Fri: 2:00 pm-10:30 pm.

Minimum Qualifications
• Successful completion of eighth grade. High school diploma or GED Equivalent (Preferred).
• Reliable and able to work overtime and weekends;
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
• Physical ability to perform work that can involve carrying, lifting, pulling, standing, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, reaching, crawling, and prolonged walking;
• Work area can be dusty, hot, wet, smelly, and around large noisy equipment;
• This position may be contacted during non-duty hours for emergencies;
• After-hours, weekend, or holiday work may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and labels;
• Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly;
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees;
• Ability to recognize and report maintenance needs in buildings and on the grounds;
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (for example: measuring and mixing chemicals);
• Sufficient knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, and the proper use of vacuum cleaners and other cleaning equipment;
• Assist with event set-ups as needed;
• Ability to operate a computer and respond to e-mails clearly and effectively.
