Title: Cyber Security Analyst

Job Summary:
This is a full-time permanent, fiscal year position in the Office of Information Technology reporting to the Chief Information Officer. The Cyber Security Analyst works in conjunction with organizational functions/departments to ensure employees are aware of cybersecurity issues, are trained in good cybersecurity practices, and are practicing safe/secure data collection, data transfers and storage, and use of social media, mobile devices, and apps, among others. The Cyber Security Analyst ensures that the risk to the organization’s information posed by a variety of cyber threats (cyberattacks; theft or corruption from within; etc.) is minimized. The position guides and manages the provision of services, policies, and programs for IT security.
Job Duties:
Manage information security program including IT security awareness training and outreach efforts such as policy and compliance education. Collaborate with other departments, including Internal Audit and Business and Finance, to identify IT risks and implement appropriate IT risk management strategies; recommend policy and guideline changes. Research the latest information technology security trends. Monitor the organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur. Provide leadership and guidance to IT security, identity management, and compliance staff; attend meetings as departmental representative; utilize project planning to ensure appropriate resource allocation; participate in daily operational tasks of the unit as needed. Provide leadership and ownership of security incident response process and IT-related compliance issues; oversee and recommend appropriate corrective actions for violations of IT policies. Develop and recommend implementation of security standards and best practices for the organization. Recommend sound security strategies to members of the Information Technology Staff. Recommend security enhancements to IT Management. Help computer technicians, end users when they need to install or learn about new security products and/or procedures. Ensure that IT security audits are conducted periodically or as needed (e.g., when a security breach occurs). Audits include risk identification and mitigation, GLBA compliance and other items related to compliance with state and federal guidelines. Maintain current knowledge of IT risks through review of various email lists, security websites, and professional publications; proactively identify threats to the college and recommend protective actions. May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security or related field OR an Associate’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in information security (CISSP) or comparable work experience.
Certification in Project Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with people at every level and in every department are essential.
Knowledge of current network technology and equipment including local and wide area networking, the Internet, and the World Wide Web.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent time management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
Pay Rate: $48,370 - $60,460 annual salary depending on experience
