Title: Dean, School of Business and Professional Studies

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides dynamic and effective leadership and coordinates the educational, administrative, and financial affairs within the School of Business and Professional Studies by creating a work environment that supports faculty in producing continuous improvement and ensures that programs are good quality, relevant to students’ goals and aligns with industry need. This position is also responsible for collaborating with the Executive Director of Workforce Development to develop non-credit to credit opportunities within the division to include stackable credentials, work-based learning opportunities and prior learning assessment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, evaluates and continually improves academic courses and programs, in collaboration with faculty, that are consistent with the College mission and strategic plan. Ensures that all programs meet accreditation guidelines and standards. Directs periodic assessment of all courses and programs, demonstrating use of assessment to improve offerings. Supervises the evaluation of transfer credit, prior learning assessment and course substitutions within the division. Supervises program faculty and staff within the division to create a collegial, productive professional work environment. Provides formal and informal review and evaluation of faculty and staff within the division, including faculty promotion and tenure applications. Recruits and makes employment recommendations consistent with the College policies. Supervises orientation of new faculty/staff to ensure understanding of policies and procedures.

Works with Campus Directors to manage the development and compilation of class schedules and teaching/classroom assignments within the division. Directs the administration of all budgets within the division. Works in close partnership with Academic Affairs, Student Services, Workforce Development and other areas of the college to create, maintain and expand programming that will meet community and workforce needs and advance the mission of the College as a whole. Supervises the establishment and maintenance of effective program advisory committees for all AAS and technical certificate programs in the division. Serves on the leadership team of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and on other college and system-wide committees as appropriate. Works with the Academic Affairs leadership team to advance the mission of the College as a whole. Follows all applicable policies and required procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in appropriate field required

At least three (3) years full-time teaching experience at the college level

At least three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience in higher education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Terminal degree in appropriate field

Five (5) years full-time teaching experience at the college level

Five (5) years administrative/supervisory experience in higher education

Experience collaborating with workforce education and academic affairs to create laddered, stackable programs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to lead others to improve student success. Knowledge of leading-edge technology and its applications to higher education. Ability to be flexible and handle a variety of tasks at one time. Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and with representatives of business, industry and government.

Rate of Pay: $91,319 to $114,148 annually, depending on experience
