SUMMARY

The Director of Functional Solutions is responsible for evaluating, integrating, and optimizing the College’s technological platforms, including the Student Information System (SIS) (Banner), ancillary third-party systems, and other administrative tools. This role ensures that all adopted platforms function effectively to support the College’s purpose, mission, and values.

As the leader of the Functional Solutions Team—the primary project intake point for the Technology Division—the Director oversees the assessment of customer needs, defines project scope, and guides the implementation of solutions. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Technology Operations, the Director plays a key role in aligning technology initiatives with institutional goals.

Key objectives include supervising the Functional Solutions unit, designing and implementing data reports to support decision-making, integrating platforms to enhance efficiency, and continuously evaluating system functionality to improve College-wide processes and services within the institution’s strategic framework.

Holistic Student Support

  • Prioritize and assist in immediate functional/technical issues and needs for student-facing services related to select platforms, as appropriate.
  • Increase efficiency of student-facing processes.
  • Appropriately connect platforms to deliver an integrated experience for students

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Prioritize and assist in immediate functional/technical issues and needs for faculty-facing services related to select platforms, as appropriate.
  • Increase efficiency of faculty-facing processes.
  • Consult with leaders across campus to understand ongoing and upcoming projects.  Determine the appropriate scope of the Technology Division’s involvement in executing these projects.

Organizational Culture

  • Maintain connectivity and enhance functionality among Banner and select third-party platforms by serving as user administrator or functional support, as needed.
  • Improve data standards and democratization for unit-level decision-making support.

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Review and revise platform inventory as needed to decrease duplicative functionality, maintenance, and cost.
  • Guide users to existing solutions when the College already owns a solution that would meet the users’ needs.
  • Manage the unit budget in order to meet goals appropriately.
  • Enhance the efficiency of separate platforms through integration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in a related computer or programming field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Preferred experience with the Banner Student Information System and its underlying database tables

Salary Range: $76,243 - $95,304
