Job Summary:
Provide leadership and direction for the systems, network, and telecommunications teams. Organize and assign systems, network, and telecommunications tasks. Provide support for all servers, networks, and related devices and application needs to ensure college computer users will be able to complete their work in a timely and efficient manner. Travel to off-campus locations is occasionally required.
Job Duties:
Provide guidance and recommendations to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for data and information security as it relates to systems and networks. Direct and supervise systems engineers and network/telecommunications team by providing goals and direction, organize and assign systems engineering and administration tasks, ensure project-related tasks are completed on time. Maintain comprehensive documentation of VSCC systems. Actively research new technologies and recommend them for implementation as appropriate. Build and maintain a yearly budget for systems, servers, storage, and network upgrades. Evaluate, review, recommend, plan, design, implement, install, monitor, maintain and/or troubleshoot hardware, software, Microsoft Exchange and other email server applications, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, SAN and NAS disk storage arrays, disk capacities, server/system configurations, and server based anti-malware systems, cloud based applications and systems including Microsoft 365 and Azure, load balancers, application delivery controllers, network and systems monitoring software. Evaluate, review, recommend, plan, design, implement, install, monitor, maintain and/or troubleshoot network hardware and software, Cisco routers, switches, Sonicwall and Fortinet firewalls, Aruba wireless and other network equipment as needed. Recommend and/or implement procedures and policies regarding system integrity, security issues and improved department efficiency and service. Implementation and maintenance of operating systems, database packages, compilers and other layered product computer applications including, but not limited to: Windows, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, Microsoft Active Directory environments, Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix, Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environments, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, SAML, PowerShell, Web and application server environments, Microsoft IIS, Apache Server, Apache Tomcat, HTML, Java, and Java Script. Responsible for maintaining system and network performance data; system back-up; restore procedures including disaster prevention and recovery procedures. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree plus five years of related experience OR Associate’s Degree plus seven years of related experience.
Experience should include progressively increased responsibility directly involved with systems and network installation, modification, and maintenance with associated experience in the backing up of critical data in an enterprise environment.
Experience should be in a variety of operating systems including Unix, Windows, and Linux.
Experience with SANS, NAS systems virtualization and cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure.
Experience with LANs and WANs.
Experience with the application, implementation of data communications hardware/software, network configuration/operations, system planning and analysis methods.
3 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft MECM and Azure.
Experience with Ellucian Banner and/or Oracle.
Experience with VMware and NetScaler.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups including faculty, staff and college and board advisory committees.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications, anti-malware applications and EDR.
Skills in installation, setup, maintenance, and trouble resolution within a virtualized Windows, and Linux based network environments.
Experience with enterprise storage arrays.
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
Experience with LANs and WANs.
Knowledge of various protocols used in a college network such as TCP/IP, DHCP, SFTP, and SMTP.
Ability to supervise and work in a fast paced team environment.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent organization skills along with being detailed oriented.
Pay Rate: $75,057 - $93,821 annual salary depending on experience
