Job Summary

Under the President and Vice President's administrative direction, the Director of Nursing and Allied Health provides leadership and strategic vision to the allied health programs of TCAT Knoxville. This position leads and facilitates innovative student learning and employer partnerships to foster and support the development of new and relevant training, student learning/clinical, employer advisory committees for guided career pathways, and integrated career readiness. This position will work 37.5 hours a week at TCAT Knoxville locations. This exempt position may occasionally involve responsibilities extending beyond the standard work week to support students, programs, and institutional objectives.

Job Duties

  • Manage/Coordinate Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, Dental Assisting, Nursing Aide and other emerging healthcare programs. - (Essential)
  • Working relationships with community colleges and industry partners is a must. - (Essential)
  • Must have a firm understanding of technology and the ability to use it for innovative teaching and learning for high-impact practices. Must have skills to adapt to progressive technology quickly. - (Essential)
  • Staff the department, train, evaluate, and supervise healthcare faculty and staff - (Essential)
  • Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement workforce development projects, including apprenticeships. - (Essential)
  • Organize and ensure advisory meetings are conducted according to accreditation standards. - (Essential)
  • Assign teaching and non-teaching job responsibilities, assist with instructing, and mediate between students and instructors. - (Essential)
  • Organize recruitment events in coordination with student services staff. - (Essential)
  • Be a strong advocate for technical education and represent TCAT Knoxville healthcare programs to K-12 partners for dual enrollment. - (Essential)
  • Prepare annual reports for accrediting bodies and maintain records for the State Board of Nursing. - (Essential)
  • Provide leadership in teaching, service, research, clinical practice, and developmental tasks for the department. - (Essential)
  • Ensure compliance with the completion, placement, licensure, and accreditation standards of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), TN Board of Nursing, and TCAT Knoxville. - (Essential)
  • Work with area healthcare facilities to secure clinical sites. Renew/Review clinical affiliation agreements timely. - (Essential)
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments and make recommendations to ensure allied health programs have the necessary equipment and infrastructure to achieve program outcomes. - (Essential)
  • Collaborate closely with finance and administration leadership to draft and defend program budget proposals that adequately support program growth and quality improvement initiatives across allied health disciplines. - (Essential)
  • Develop, review, and update curricula and instructional materials with faculty to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory or accreditation standards. - (Essential)
  • Implement impactful professional development initiatives to support allied health faculty's continuous learning and professional growth. - (Essential)
  • Review and prepare Student Handbooks for all Allied Health programs and related manuals and brochures annually and on a timely basis. - (Essential)
  • Oversee application of policies and procedures as set forth by the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville directives. - (Essential)
  • Provide academic counseling and student support to address performance, attendance, or compliance issues. - (Essential)
  • Ensure adherence to requirements set by the TBR system, institution, state, regulatory bodies, and federal statutes across all allied health offerings. - (Essential)
  • Take a leadership role in recruitment strategies to maximize awareness of and enrollment in allied health programs. - (Essential)
  • Some travel will be required. - (Essential)
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned in service of the students, programs, department, and mission of the institution. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of an earned graduate degree (MSN or higher) from an accredited nursing program.
• Must provide evidence of current, valid State of Tennessee licensure as a registered nurse.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience providing direct patient care in hospital clinical experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience of full-time teaching at the post-secondary level, focused on nursing/allied health curriculum and instruction.
• Proven record of administrative and supervisory experience of allied health professionals in an academic or clinical environment.
• Advanced competency using standard office/instructional technologies and demonstrated skill in various communication channels.
• An established work history exhibiting sound decision-making, meticulous attention to reporting timelines, effective management of concurrent projects, and the ability to develop learning partnerships with industry and future employers of graduates.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a long-term care facility environment.
• Direct experience utilizing the Banner student information management system.
• Experience developing or revising nursing or allied health education curricula and incorporating technologies.
• Experience designing and/or managing workforce development training programs.
• Proficiency in marketing strategies.

• Knowledge of the rules and regulations established by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for educational programs.
• A proven track record of exemplary leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in both written and verbal communications.
• Well-developed capacity to establish and sustain productive working relationships with students, academic colleagues, clinical sites, industry partners, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in using instructional technologies, including simulation equipment/platforms, Microsoft Office suite, audiovisual equipment, learning management systems, and other digital education tools.
• Demonstrated multi-tasking, prioritization, organization, and strategic planning skills to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities successfully.
• A solid commitment to the transformational impact of education and passion for empowering students to achieve academic and career goals.
• Working familiarity with allied healthcare practices, procedures, and contemporary issues within nursing and related disciplines.
• Understanding workforce development and support needs of a highly qualified and professional workforce.
• Ability to identify, select, energize, supervise, and evaluate effective education programs and services.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and motivating teams to maximize productivity and performance.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced academic environment.
• Success in working collaboratively in cross-functional teams to advance institutional initiatives.
• Sound decision-making based on evaluating multifaceted situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Heavy use of computer systems and technology; regular standing, sitting, and walking; lifting of approximately 25 lbs.; and operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.

SALARY: In accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines of $59,898 - $77,874.
