Director of Practical Nursing Program

 

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Upper Cumberland is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Practical Nursing Program.  The position will require travel to multiple campus locations to provide regular in person engagement to ensure quality staff and student support.  Will require flexible hours at times to monitor day and night classes.     

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Five years of Clinical Practice as a Registered Nurse required
  • Current Active License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee required
  • Administrative and/or managerial supervision experience of nurse staff required

 

General Duties include but not limited to:

  • Manage all Nursing Programs that TCAT Upper Cumberland serves
  • Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate nursing faculty and practical nursing program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Board of Nursing, advisory board, and healthcare facilities
  • Work with area healthcare facilities to secure clinical sites, ensure clinical contracts are current and students meet the requirements of clinical facilities
  • Develop, review, and update curricula and instructional material with faculty to ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory or accreditation standards
  • Recruit, counsel, and evaluate applicants and students
  • Assign teaching and non-teaching job responsibilities, assist with teaching, and act as a mediator between students and teachers
  • Staff the department, train, evaluate and supervise faculty and staff.
  • Assign teachers and student to classroom and clinical schedules
  • Supervise students in clinical settings
  • Coordinate First Aid and CPR activities for nursing faculty, staff, and students
  • Ensure compliance with the completion, placement, licensure, and accreditation standards of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), TN Board of Nursing and TCAT Upper Cumberland
  • Administer policies and procedures established by TBR/TCAT and participate in college and departmental policy development including reviewing and revising the PN Program handbook
  • Provide classroom instruction and maintain program and student records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
