Job Summary
• The candidate is responsible for teaching all phases of the program to include theory and practical instruction of the curriculum.
• Develop, plan, and prepare a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aids. Other duties include curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, student recruitment, placement, and follow-up.
• Monitors conduct, safety, and discipline during training.
• Provides motivation for the students.
• Assist with placement of students in the workforce.
• Participate in recruiting and evaluating students for programs.
• Participate in professional development activities, including cooperating with outside agencies, and programs advisory committees. Continue personal training and professional development to stay abreast of changes in the industry.
• Must maintain an active advisory committee and communicate with business and industry on a regular basis.
• Must monitor and evaluate student progress; accurately maintain program and student record.
• Other duties as designed.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma, HiSET (required)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the electrical construction trades.
• Journeyman Electrician experience (minimum 5 years).
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Diploma preferred, post-secondary training in Industrial Electricity
Prior teaching or training experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must have strong interpersonal skills, pleasant demeanor, and professionalism with co-workers, students, and the public.
• Posses the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
• Proficiency in computer skills required.
