**This position is grant-funded and is supported through Perkins funding. The position is contingent upon the availability and continuation of grant funds and is exclusive to grant funding.

JOB SUMMARY

The EMS Clinical Coordinator reports directly to the EMS Director and is responsible for coordinating and evaluating clinical education experiences for EMS students. The incumbent serves as the primary liaison between the College and clinical partners to support student success, ensure compliance with accreditation and program requirements, and maintain quality clinical placement opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Clinical Education Coordination (45%)

  • Coordinate and oversee clinical education experiences for EMS students, including placement, scheduling, and student support.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among students, faculty, and clinical site partners throughout the clinical experience.
  • Monitor student progress and assist in resolving issues to promote successful completion of clinical requirements.

Clinical Partnerships (30%)

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with hospitals, EMS agencies, and other clinical affiliates.
  • Communicate regularly with clinical partners and conduct site visits, as needed, to support quality clinical experiences and strengthen partnerships.
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to ensure clinical experiences meet program needs.

Program Support and Compliance (20%)

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for clinical placements, affiliation agreements, and student requirements.
  • Ensure clinical education activities comply with accreditation standards, program requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Collect and report data to support program evaluation and accreditation and perform other related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions (5%)

  • The EMS Clinical Coordinator will be required to meet standards now required or which may be required by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC).
  • May be required to achieve additional skill, knowledge, or credential levels.
  • Must attend all college functions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT

Work activities regularly involve the use of standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, and related devices to perform tasks including data entry, document preparation, email communication, and report generation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking (when/if applicable).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various software packages including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, clinical site partners, members of the public, and other stakeholders.

JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.

OR

  • Advanced EMT Certification
  • Minimum of two years of experience in any combination of:
    • Clinical rotations (e.g., Patient care, practicum, treatment planning, etc.).
    • Emergency medical response (e.g., First response, emergency treatment, disaster response, rescue operations, patient transport, etc.).
    • Advanced patient care (e.g., Assessment, monitoring, clinical intervention, patient advocacy, etc.).

JOB LOCATION

This is an on-site position based in the Health & Science Building on the main campus of Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee. The role may involve travel within the college’s five-county service area and occasional travel throughout the state and nationally for meetings, conferences, and professional events. Travel across the service region for meetings and other activities may also expected.
