Job Summary
The Facilities and Maintenance Department is looking for a passionate and self-motivated Facilities Support Associate to help create a welcoming and well-maintained campus environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our facilities are clean, safe, and functional, supporting an optimal learning experience for our students. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a work schedule of 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday).
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in custodial and facility support tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
• A technical certificate or diploma and/or general building maintenance experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in preventive and general maintenance, custodial duties, and grounds-keeping, along with familiarity with proper sanitation, maintenance, and safety protocols relevant to the role. Reading comprehension skills are necessary for understanding safety data sheets, operating instructions, and equipment manuals. The candidate should be able to follow written and oral instructions accurately and demonstrate a mature attitude with a reliable and dependable work ethic. Communication skills are essential for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues. Basic computer skills and a valid Tennessee driver's license with the ability to drive are also necessary.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
The Facilities Support Associate will work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. The role requires frequent physical activity, including lifting, bending, stooping, and climbing. The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require repetitive movements. Additionally, the position involves navigating campus environments, which include walking up and down stairs and traversing uneven surfaces. During inclement weather, the role will also involve cleaning and salting outdoor areas to ensure safety. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and noise from equipment is expected. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines, between $27,130 - $32,813.
