Job Summary
This is a full-time academic-year (9-month) appointment faculty position reporting to the Department Chair of Technologies. The faculty member is responsible for coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related academic activities in the assigned discipline. Teaching responsibilities include foundational and advanced Mechatronics Technology topics, including industrial automation systems, electrical and electronic controls, mechanical drive systems, pneumatics and hydraulics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), process control systems, robotics fundamentals, and the integration of emerging technologies used in modern manufacturing and industrial environments.
Primary responsibilities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic advising, curriculum development, student assessment, and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities. The faculty member plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the Mechatronics curriculum and integrating hands-on, applied learning experiences into the program.
The faculty member is expected to perform assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus, as assigned. At a minimum, related faculty responsibilities include instruction, academic advising and mentoring, serving on departmental and college committees, and participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.
In addition to standard faculty responsibilities, this position includes assigned program coordination duties for the Mechatronics Technology program as part of the faculty teaching load.
