Job Summary

The PTA Faculty / PTA Director of Clinical Education is a full-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the PTA Program Director.

The PTA Faculty/PTA Director of Clinical Education provides managerial/administrative/teaching responsibilities and support responsibilities as defined in the essential job functions below.

Job Duties

Managerial/Administrative/Teaching Responsibilities

  • Course coordinator for selected PTA courses:
    • Schedule guest lectures
    • Arrange off-campus tours and field trips
    • Prepare course outlines, syllabi, and other course materials
    • Assess student performance and enter course grades
  • Serve as lab instructor in PTA courses
    • As coordinator of clinical education:
    • Secure letters of agreement with clinical facilities
    • Assign students to clinical affiliation sites, make clinical site visits
    • Provide in-service training to clinical sites
    • Communicate with student and clinical instructors
    • In consultation with clinical instructors regarding student clinical performance, enter grade designations for clinical courses.
  • Attend administrative meetings and assist with administrative duties, such as preparing the annual accreditation report

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Physical Therapy – MPT/MSPT or DPT.
  • Three years of post-licensure clinical practice, including two years of experience as a center coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor in Physical Therapy, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program.
  • Licensed to practice as a PT in Tennessee.
