        Job Summary

        To provide academic advisement regarding eligibility and admission requirements to students (current and prospective) interested in any RSCC Health Science program. Collaborate with all Health Science program directors at Roane State with the facilitating and updating admission processes and eligibility information.

        Job Duties

        • Provide information to individuals inquiring about one or more of the various health science programs offered by Roane State. 
        • Actively participate in recruitment activities/initiatives of the Division and the College.
        • Advise students about the admission criteria regarding the various health science programs (certificate and degree) offered by Roane State either via phone, email and/or in person.
        • Coordinate the process of selective admission for the various Health Sciences selective admission programs with the respective program director and the Dean.
          • Review, update and maintain the electronic admissions applications.
          • Ensure the program admission requirements are accurately communicated in publications and web pages.
          • Work with Admissions and Records regarding change of majors for students admitted to the various programs.
        • Maintain and evaluate applicant files, including securing required documents from the RSCC Records Office, calculating GPA for designated prerequisite courses, evaluating transcripts for requirement fulfillment and sending correspondence to all applicants informing them of their applicant and/or admission status.
          • Review transfer credit and recommend possible course substitutions to academic program directors.
          • Prepare candidate electronic files for respective program directors to review and make admission decisions.
          • Correspond with students regarding missing requirements and eligibility status
        •  Conduct training for success coaches/academic advisors and other RSCC personnel regarding the admissions process for the various Health Science programs.
        • Collaborate with and assist program directors with group advising/information sessions.
        • Assist with interviewing program applicants as needed.
        • Develop monthly applicant and admissions statistical reports and distribute to Dean and Program Directors.
        • Collaborate with other RSCC personnel and departments (i.e., Admissions and Records) to ensure alignment between college admissions policies and procedures and the admissions policies and procedures of the Health Sciences Division.
        • Participate in Program Director and Division meetings as requested.

        Minimum Qualifications

        • Bachelor’s degree required
        • One year of advising or Records Department experience in an institution of higher education is required (community college experience preferred).

        Preferred Qualifications

        Community college experience preferred.

        Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

        • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.
        • Effective problem solving and analytic skills.
        • Experience with Banner Student System and ARGOS preferred.
        • Experience with advising Health Science majors preferred.
