Job Title: Healthcare Workforce Development Initiatives (HWDI) Adjunct Instructor

The HWDI Adjunct Instructor is responsible for guiding and instructing individuals pursuing careers in healthcare. This role involves academic instruction, career coaching, and workforce development support, ensuring that students are prepared for employment in healthcare settings.

Job Duties

Key Responsibilities:

•  Develop and deliver instructional content tailored to adult learners, including preparation for healthcare-related entrance exams (i.e., HESI A2), dosage calculation instruction, and NCLEX review.
• Provide career coaching and advising to participants interested in healthcare careers, including guidance on educational pathways, certification requirements, and job opportunities.
• Provide instruction for a pharmacy technician pre-apprenticeship program, ensuring students receive foundational knowledge and hands-on training to prepare for certification and employment.
• Assist students with career readiness skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and professional communication.
• Foster partnerships with healthcare employers to identify workforce needs and align educational offerings with industry demand.
• Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to engage adult learners in healthcare education and training programs.
• Monitor student progress and provide individualized support to help students achieve their educational and career goals.
• Work with community organizations and workforce development agencies to enhance training and job placement opportunities for students.
• Stay current with industry trends, certification standards, and healthcare workforce needs to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.

• Essential Job Functions:
• Plan, teach and evaluate student work
• Assist with student registration, assessment, orientation/counseling
• Assist with graduation
• Administer and interpret scores for TABE, CASAS, and high school equivalency practice exams for student placement and instruction
• Organize and maintain confidential program and student files as well as report documentation, including maintaining correct student sign-in sheets
• Provide office coverage and customer service support
• Assist with student registration, enrollment, class placement, attendance tracking, and educational goal development
• Maintain technical knowledge by engaging in opportunities to improve or increase skills
• Maintain time and effort documentation
• Work toward classroom improvement based on program goals
• Post-test all eligible students after 40 hours of instruction
• Work with the Leadership Team to develop a program that supports students’ progression through the National Reporting System levels – ensuring level gains
• Support the Adult Education Office with general clerical duties (filing, faxing, disbursement of administrative and instructional materials, restock supplies, etc.)
• Manage electronic filing system
• Complete data entry in a timely manner, adhering to all reporting deadlines
• Organize and maintain confidential program, student files, and report documentation
• Collaborate with Instructors and Career Coaches
• Assist with student registration, intake and orientation-related activities for potential and current students
• Willingness to learn and support the department as it relates to new tasks and/or responsibilities
• Assist with scheduling, proctoring, and scoring state-required tests (CASAS; TABE; OPT; HiSET, GED, and etc.).
• Provide instruction for digital education classroom as needed
• Maintain class, staff, and event schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

• Baccalaureate in Education or related field. A Tennessee Teacher’s License and teaching experience is preferred.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) is required

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines.
