Title: Instructor, Healthcare Management – 9/10 Month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides instruction in the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Healthcare Management program, including coursework that supports the Medical Management and Coding concentrations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform job duties from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location. Teach courses on ground at the assigned campus/instructional site/work location. Other instructional delivery modes, such as online, hybrid or web-enhanced, taught from the assigned campus/instructional site/work location, may be assigned based on operational needs, as determined by the College. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators/directors to ensure consistent student experiences. Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class. Develops and maintains course materials consistent with departmental and institutional standards.
Evaluates student learning and maintain accurate academic records. Utilizes the college’s learning management system to facilitate instruction and communication. Submits attendance, early alerts, assessments, grades, and other required reports in accordance with institutional deadlines. Participates in curriculum review, assessment of student learning outcomes, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains scheduled office hours and provide academic advising and support to students. Participates in departmental, division, and college meetings and activities. Fosters relationships with healthcare employers and industry partners to support workforce alignment and student success. Complies with all College, Tennessee Board of Regents, and accreditation requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field, industry certification
Industry certification, such as RHIA, CPC, CCS or other applicable certification
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in healthcare administration, healthcare operations, medical practice management, healthcare finance, revenue cycle management, health information management, healthcare compliance, coding, or a related healthcare field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in healthcare administration or business administration with a concentration in healthcare administration.
Experience teaching in higher education.
Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
Experience in physician practice management, ambulatory care administration, healthcare operations, revenue cycle management, medical coding, or healthcare compliance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of contemporary healthcare delivery systems and healthcare operations. Knowledge of medical office administration, quality improvement, and healthcare finance. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Demonstrated proficiency with technology and instructional software. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to integrate industry best practices into instruction. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Ability to use instructional technologies and learning management systems effectively. Commitment to student success, workforce development, and continuous improvement.
