Role Responsibilities Summary

Under the supervision of the Nursing Program Director, the primary responsibility of full-time faculty position is to provide quality instruction and supervision of student learning while maintaining a positive learning environment within the Associate Degree Nursing Program.  Teaching responsibilities include classroom and clinical instruction. The faculty responds to students in a timely manner and communicates with the discipline and division via college-provided tools and resources.

Essential Functions

Teaching Excellence

• Prepares instructional materials such as lectures, presentations, labs, and cooperative learning arrangements.
• Uses various learning assessments to evaluate student mastery of course and program outcomes.
• Provides timely feedback on student progress to facilitate academic success.
• Aids in the development of clear learning objectives to identify knowledge, skills, and competencies to be mastered, using textbooks, instructional resources, and accreditation criteria.
• Selects and evaluates learning environments to ensure they support student engagement and achievement of course outcomes.
• Identifies appropriate learning activities and assignments that provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and develop competence.
• Provides individualized supervision and guidance to support student performance, mastery of objectives, and safe application of learning.
• Plans and facilitates group-learning sessions such as discussions, presentations, and debriefings to deepen understanding and critical thinking.
• Assesses student work and assignments to evaluate the application of theoretical knowledge to practice and overall academic progress.
• Demonstrates teaching excellence through evidence-based instructional practices that foster student learning

Program Innovation

• Prepares and submits required documentation, including course syllabi, student attendance, and final grades.
• Maintains accurate records of student performance and progress in compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.
• Participates in committees, task forces, and simulation or instructional innovation activities to advance learning strategies.
• Engages in projects and duties that support the college’s mission and continuous improvement goals.

Holistic Student Support

• Disseminates current information about services available to students across the college.
• Has familiarity with holistic support services such as Admissions, Enrollment, Career Services, Tutoring, Student Life, Multicultural and International Services, Adult Student Services, and the Center for Access and Disability Services.
• Ensures services and activities reflect fair and accessible practices that support student success
• Serves as an academic advisor and mentor to support student engagement beyond the classroom.

Organizational Culture

• Maintains professional development and growth consistent with personal needs and certification requirements.
• Embraces and promotes the College’s goals of organizational culture.
• Supports the Nursing and Allied Health Division’s fair and accessible practices for students, faculty, and staff.

• Selects and evaluates learning environments with consideration for effective, sustainable, and resource-conscious student placement.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records to protect students, partner agencies, and the public.
• Ensures responsible use of equipment, supplies, and resources in classrooms, labs, and learning environments.
• Participates in efficient program operations and compliance processes that safeguard accreditation and fiscal health.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Capable of learning and applying adult learning theory, teaching methodologies, curriculum design, student success initiatives, advising, accreditation standards, and data analysis.
• Able to utilize and adapt to emerging instructional technologies including online, hybrid, and web-enhanced delivery methods.
• Skilled in designing engaging learning opportunities, applying varied instructional strategies, and using timely assessments to support student success.
• Maintains expertise in assigned academic discipline(s) with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively in group and one-on-one settings.
• Builds cooperative, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
• Demonstrates self-discipline, motivation, punctuality, attention to detail, and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
• Exercises discretion with confidential information and maintains a strong commitment to the mission of the community college system.

Education and Experience

• A master’s degree in nursing is recommended
• Holds an active, unencumbered registered nursing license to practice as a registered nurse in Tennessee.
• Must have two (2) calendar years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

• A master’s degree or higher in nursing OR actively enrolled in a graduate nursing degree program with an expected graduation within three years
• Community college teaching experience

Salary Range: $41,763 - $51,154
