Job Title: Instructor of Engineering Technology
Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations)
Job Purpose: This is a nine-month tenure track position expected to teach Associate of Applied Science Engineering Technology classes and laboratories, create instructional materials and laboratory experiences, promote Engineering Technology degree programs through local, regional, and national engagement, and participate in program assessment activities related to accreditation, certification, and grant parameters. The successful candidate will also participate in recruitment and advising activities, along with other departmental services. This position’s primary area of responsibility will be the Mechanical Technology discipline, with an emphasis in: mechanical power transmission, millwright principles, fluid power systems, industrial pumps and piping systems, and manual machine tool technology.
Documentation of skills related to Mechanical Technology must be provided in the candidate’s application submission. Successful applicants will also be required to teach other coursework outside the Mechanical Technology discipline to maintain an adequate teaching load. These secondary disciplines include: 1) Computer-aided drafting and design using one or more of the following software programs; AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks and/or REVIT 2) CNC programming and machining 3) Industrial electricity, including PLC and robotics programming; 4) Operations management, including lean manufacturing, quality assurance, project scheduling, and safety.
The successful candidate must also document relevant teaching skills outside the Mechanical Technology discipline and be able to teach in all disciplines listed on their resume. Other tasks the successful applicant will be required to perform include curriculum development and evaluation, program development and evaluation, recruitment, student advising, transcript and work experience evaluation, advisory committee engagement, evaluation and preparation of articulation agreements and prior learning assessments. The successful candidate will also be required to perform minor repairs and periodic maintenance on equipment assigned to the Engineering Technology programs.
