*If you are a PSCC Student and eligible for the Student Employment Program, you will be paid on experience and the rates are $14.00 (no experience), $15.00 (6 months experience) and $16.00 (9 months experience)*.
Work Hours: 20 hours per week
Must be able to work Monday-Thursday from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and work until 8:00 p.m. each of these days
Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to staff the circulation desk, provide service to library patrons using a computer-based library system, and provide some circulation-related support services including intercampus loan processing. Intermittent special projects include withdrawing deselected library materials, checking the integrated library system for lists of books the libraries already own before orders are placed to prevent ordering materials already available, and labeling materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
80%- Staff the circulation desk and check out and check in library materials using the integrated library system. Answer directional and general informational questions about library circulation processes and about the college. Add/update patron information in the library system. Process incoming and outgoing intercampus loans. Maintain supplies of the various forms used at the circulation desk. Explain circulation policies to patrons and provide suggestions for improving circulation policies and procedures. Responsible for opening/closing library and securing Reserve electronics in locked cabinets.
20%- Sort and shelve library materials and assist with shelf maintenance.
Note: The College reserves the right to change or reassign job duties, or combine positions at any time.Required Qualifications: Some college and computer experience are required. All other skills and knowledge are acquired via on-the-job training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
It usually takes 6 months to a year on-the-job for an employee to have a really good grasp of technical skills, policies, and procedures necessary for competency in this job.
