The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is Tennessee's largest higher education system, governing 40 post-secondary educational institutions with over 200 teaching locations. Pellissippi State Community College Internships
The purpose of the Pellissippi State Community College’s Internship Program is to attract diverse candidates to the college who can provide a new perspective on organizational issues and introduce best practices within higher education or a departmental discipline.
All interns will be expected to rotate through various aspects of the department to gain institutional knowledge to include shadowing management. Interns will have interaction with executive leadership and, depending on the department, parents, students, and outside vendors.
The intern is responsible for finding suitable housing within the Knoxville metropolitan area. Preference in hiring will be given to Junior and Senior undergraduates and graduate students enrolled in a relevant degree program.
Internships may be conducted during any academic semester (18 weeks) or during the summer (11 weeks). Interns will be expected to work up to 30 hours per week Compensation* Undergraduate interns: $15 ; Graduate interns: $17
*Does not apply if the intern’s institution prohibits compensation in lieu of course credit.
Enrollment Services/Financial Aid Intern
The internship will be an excellent opportunity to assist the Office of Enrollment Services at our four campus locations by answering questions and assisting new and returning students through the enrollment process from admissions through registration. Interns will be “enrollment services specialists” or “financial aid specialists” who will be trained to answer questions in all areas of enrollment: Admissions, Records, Financial Aid and Scholarships. Interns will be provided the opportunity to represent Pellissippi State at recruitment events and organize, plan, and implement recruitment events at all campuses.
Undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of marketing, public relations, communications, event planning and graduate students in college student personnel or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Expectations:
• Serve as a primary contact to new students. Guide high school, transfer, re-entry students and adult learners through the enrollment process as they relate to admissions and financial aid. Counsel students on academic and career programs and their respective transfer or career opportunities.
• Represent Pellissippi State at college and career fairs.
• Assist with the planning, oversight and implementation of effective recruitment events for prospective students at all five campus locations.
• Assist the Records Office with transcript analysis, transcript/enrollment verification, graduation, and course scheduling.
Marketing & Communications Intern
The Marketing & Communications Office is looking for an outgoing and experienced visual, digital, and social media intern to assist in documenting students and campus activities for the use of marketing purposes. This intern is expected to have experience in photography and videography, as well as post production experience with video and photo editing software within the Adobe Creative Cloud.
Responsibilities would include:
• Assisting the campus photographer/videographer with events, campus photography/videography.
• Serving as a grip or production assistant during video shoots
• Assisting with scriptwriting
• Recruiting students to appear in videos or photos used to promote the college
• Setting up equipment/lighting for video/photo shoots
• Video/photo post editing
• Other duties related to the position as required by the visual media coordinator
Qualifications:
• A DLSR camera preferred
• Experience in both photography and video production
• Excellent communication skills
• Creativity and the ability to be innovative and adaptable on the fly
• A good attitude and strong work ethic
Student Orientation/Success Intern
The Orientation/Success Intern will assist the Director, StayStrong Center in planning and implementing orientation and student success events across our four campuses in and around Knoxville. The intern will also work closely with a team from Pellissippi State and the University of Tennessee to implement the Volunteer Bridge Program Orientation during the summer.
Responsibilities include:
• Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring student leaders from five campuses
• Work with numerous college departments and faculty to coordinate events
• Present to students and parents at orientation events
• Assist with website and database maintenance and updates
• Assist with Tennessee Promise programing and Tennessee Reconnect programing
• Assist with community service opportunities as required by Tennessee Promise Scholarship program
Qualifications:
• Current graduate student, or rising senior with an interest in College Student Personnel and Higher Education Administration
Preferred Skills:
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Experience leading and coaching groups
• Ability to utilize electronic databases Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Social Work Intern
Social Work Interns who are selected to work with the Department of Student Care and Advocacy and/or Counseling Services will have the opportunity to be involved in micro and macro level social work practice. Some activities will include: intakes, referrals, case management, grant writing and program development around issues related to housing & food security and other barriers to program success.
The Student Care and Advocacy Department (provides basic needs assistance to Pellissippi State students ) is actively seeking a strong undergraduate intern to work out of Pellissippi State’s Blount County campus. Responsibilities would include assisting with the day-to-day operations of the walk-in food pantry, conducting outreach to the campus community, completing needs assessments with students, and providing non-intensive case management services in collaboration with our full-time professionals and graduate interns.
Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) Intern
The Student, Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) team at Pellissippi State Community College is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful, and innovative intern to support and enhance co-curricular learning through projects, events, initiatives that promote student involvement. The intern would conduct programs and trainings, facilitate dialogues, create resources, and seek feedback from current students. Preferred candidates will be enrolled in a higher education, organizational leadership, education, or college student personnel graduate program.
Additional responsibilities:
• Assist with the coordination of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)
• Conduct leadership workshops for student clubs and advisors
• Consult with student leaders regarding their groups
• Assist in the development of leadership resource guides and programming materials
• Develop creative marketing ideas for student programming
• Attend weekly meetings with Student Life staff
• Perform other similar and related duties as assigned
The intern will report to the Coordinator, SEAL.

The Student Recreation office at Pellissippi State Community College is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful, and innovative intern to support and enhance co-curricular learning through projects, events, initiatives that promote student involvement and engagement through recreation. Preferred candidates will be enrolled in a higher education, college student personnel, or sports management program.
Additional responsibilities:
• Assist with the coordination and development of campus intramural and recreation opportunities
• Plan and implement programming focusing on establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle
• Develop creative marketing ideas for student recreation
• Attend weekly meetings with Student Life staff
• Perform other similar and related duties as assigned
The intern will report directly to the Student Recreation Manager and to the Director, SEAL.
