Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Police, the Police Officer 2 serves as first responder, investigator, and law enforcement officer for all NeSCC and TCAT Elizabethton controlled properties. They manage criminal and non-criminal investigations, records, parking, traffic services, safety, and security for the institutions.
Job Duties
• Protect life and property at all NeSCC and TCAT Elizabethton controlled properties.
• Conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations from start to conclusion; Prepare criminal and non- criminal reports for review by college leadership as well as outside agencies.
• Provide a law enforcement response to emergency situations.
• Conduct safety and illness/injury investigations.
• Provide a professional law enforcement response to any emergency situation in accordance with training and applicable federal and state laws.
• Interpret and implement federal law as it pertains to colleges and universities. Interpret and enforce Tennessee state laws and Tennessee Board of Regents and Northeast State Community College policies.
• Apprehend criminal offenders.
• Testify in state-level courts and administrative hearings.
• Conduct regular equipment, facility, and safety checks.
• Enforce parking regulations.
• Monitor parking and provide traffic services.
• Provide escorts to buildings and vehicles as requested by faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Provide vehicle assistance services.
• Perform critical tasks that may include word processing and data entry.
• Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
• Demonstrated commitment to servant leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the chief of police, deputy chief of police, or president.
• Work closely with the TCAT President or designee to ensure that the officers day-to-day assignments are aligned with the TCAT President’s safety and security goals.
