Job Summary
The Practical Nursing instructor is responsible for the following areas including, but not limited to: teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom and off-campus clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining confidential, accurate and complete records on paper and electronically; completing reports as required in a timely manner; participating in the development of the program; participating in the recruitment of new students and placement of graduates; maintaining an active advisory committee; and other duties as assigned. Clinical hours vary. Travel to other campuses and alternate clinical sites may be required. This position reports to the Health Sciences Education Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least an Associate Degree in Nursing and hold a current Registered Nursing license in good standing with the State of Tennessee.
Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or Allied Health instructor within the last five (5) years OR two (2) years of experience as an RN within the last five (5) years and 24 credit hours toward a higher degree in nursing
Evidence in instructional program management and supervision, teaching and curriculum building is desired.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
Have teaching and/or peer training experience.
Higher Education experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Computer and Microsoft Office application Evidence of proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Must have good organizational and planning skills.
Must be willing to remain current in the nursing profession.
Must have ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
