Title: Strategic Communications Coordinator

Job Summary

The Strategic Communications Coordinator at Jackson State Community College will support the execution of the College’s communication and marketing strategies. This position requires a skilled communications professional with a focus on executing communication plans and assisting in various aspects of content development and community engagement. This role will assist in the development and implement comprehensive communication plans to enhance the College's visibility, reputation, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication within the College and its surrounding community. Equally, this role will drive enrollment through communication automation and streamlining communication systems to allow for effective flow of communication to prospective and current students through the college’s Client Relationship Management System (CRM) and other systems. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining current, accurate, and engaging content on the College’s website.

Job Duties

  • 30% - Strategic Planning of Communications: • Assist and reinforce the execution of communication and marketing strategies implemented by Institutional Advancement. • Help to identify and develop key communication priorities and opportunities. • Execute and maintain a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the College's goals and objectives. • Collaborate with JSCC leadership to identify key messaging priorities and communication opportunities to support the comprehensive enrollment of JSCC academic and student programs. • In collaboration with JSCC’s recruitment department, create opportunities and strategies to target market populations that align with the College’s Strategic Enrollment Management Plan. • Set communication goals and support plans for student services, annual recruiting targets, alumni and donor relations, create communication strategies and promotional materials. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Website: • Serve as a lead content manager and editor for the College’s website. • Develop communication funnels throughout the website using website analytics to make informed decisions that drive recruitment and ultimately enrollment of the institution. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Content Development: • Assist in developing and executing engaging and impactful communication strategies for various channels, including social media, newsletters, and the College website. • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication platforms. • Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Advancement to promote the institutions outstanding achievements, across both students and employees. • Develop and oversee internal and external newsletters for the College, including (but not limited to) community development, alumni relations, and workforce development - (Essential)
  • 10% - Internal Communication: • Foster a culture of effective internal communication, keeping faculty, staff, and students informed about key initiatives and achievements along with events and updates across campus. • Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Performance Metrics: • Contribute to the establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies. • Prepares, staffs, and briefs the Managing Director for meetings with the latest information on key metrics and strategies in place. • Assist in providing regular reports and analysis to senior leadership. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from a Regionally accredited institution in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing or public relations related positions,


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Customer Relationship Management software (Slate preferred).
• Experience managing social media platforms as a content creator or manager
• Experience with content management software, HTML experience and managing webpages.

• Ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team or work alone without close supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills

Pay Rate: $39,977 - $49,971 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
