The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is Tennessee's largest higher education system, governing 40 post-secondary educational institutions with over 200 teaching locations. The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a full-time Student Support Associate. This position will be at our Newbern location and provide financial aid support for traditional, non-traditional, and dual enrollment students. The hours for the position are Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of Technical Related Program, A.S. preferred.
Three years of experience working in a post-secondary institution preferred.
Evidence of excellent communication, computer and customer service skills. Must be able to communicate sensitive and/or complex information in a confidential and straightforward manner.
Must possess a high level of accuracy, self-motivation, and strong attention to detail.
Must have the ability to handle a heavy workload and multi-task.
Familiarity with academic environment, policies and procedures, knowledge of Banner preferred.
General Duties:
Serve as the contact person at the Newbern location for prospective and currently enrolled students regarding outstanding financial aid requirements, the availability of financial aid programs, and assisting students with securing funding in addition to federal and state grants.
Assist with financial aid programs, including Pell, FWS, FSEOG, TSAA, Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant, TCAT Reconnect, Tennessee Promise, Dual Enrollment Grant, Institutional Scholarships, etc.
Conduct needs analysis in compliance with federal and state criteria to determine the relative eligibility of each financial aid applicant.
Conduct verification of student and parent application data in compliance with federal criteria.
Determine the amount of financial aid to be awarded through the packaging process according to federal, state and institutional requirements. Monitor individual student awards. Resolve data conflicts and over awards.
Serve as the Institution’s School Certifying Official for Veterans Education Benefits.
Interact with appropriate outside entities to facilitate the student eligibility process.
Assist Business Office with fiscal year reconciliation.
Assist with completing required institutional, state, and federal reports.
Other duties assigned by the President, Vice Presidents, and Lead Student Services Coordinator.
