Job Summary

The Student Support Navigator assists the Student Outreach and Engagement Case Manager with helping students get the support they need to address their basic needs. These needs may include but are not limited to mental and physical health, food, transportation, and childcare. They connect students directly to vetted community agencies, resources, and institutional support programs. The navigator also provides students with D2L and other basic technology training to help support their academic success. The Student Outreach and Engagement Student Support Navigator reports to the Student Outreach and Engagement Case Manager and Program Coordinator.

Job Duties

Under the direction of the Student Outreach and Engagement Case Manager:

• Respond to student requests, helping them get the support they need to address their basic needs. These needs may include but are not limited to mental and physical health, food, transportation, and childcare.

• Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and resources as well as institutional programs that support the basic needs of students

• Coordinate the delivery of D2L and basic technology training to help support students’ academic success

• Assist and support students in their journey to be digitally self-sufficient

• Conduct training in group and one-on-one settings, synchronously and asynchronously, that is focused primarily on basic technology-related topics and the use of D2L in a culturally competent manner

• Assess individual technology needs and helps connect students with available solutions in close coordination with local and county partners

• Design and maintain the Student Outreach and Engagement web content following usability and accessibility best practices that comply with grant specifications

• Create resource materials that are accessible for use within the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) platform

• Prepare correspondence, reports, and other appropriate communications via technology strategies

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
One or more years of experience in an educational institution working directly with students.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field from an accredited institution.
One year or more of experience with Banner Information Systems.
Conversational ability or fluency in a second language.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
Ability to track multiple projects through planning, implementation, and follow-up.
Flexibility to function with a high degree of independence.
Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Access; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems.
