Job Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for evaluating, designing, implementing, managing, troubleshooting, and documenting server resources, directory services, messaging services,
network services, network applications, and security services. The Systems Administrator assists IT
staff in providing advanced technical support for workstation hardware and software issues and
support for database development, network connectivity issues, server operating system and
configuration issues, and other support issues as they may arise.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
• AS degree with 3-5 years of experience.
• Bachelors in Computer Information Systems or related field with 1-3 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• A working knowledge of desktop hardware and software, common operating systems such as Windows 11, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and WINS services. The person should have experience in managing server resources running Windows Server operating systems with Active Directory services and Linux operating systems.
• Able to manage email services such as Microsoft Exchange and Office 365.
• Able to write scripts using PowerShell and PHP, have experience with relational databases such as MySQL and Microsoft SQL, and should be familiar with common networking technologies.
• Familiar with hypervisors such as VMWare and Hyper-V.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu or Red Hat
• Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems, such as Windows 11,
• Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash and PHP scripting
• Experience managing and supporting Active Directory (2012/2016/2022)
• Experience managing and supporting Exchange Server and Office 365 (mail).
• Knowledge of Database Systems such as MySQL, MS-SQL and Oracle
• Experience with workstation and server hardware, printers, scanners, RAID, NAS, SAN, fiber connectivity, and disk-based backup systems.
• Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V (server virtualization)
• Knowledge of network technologies, connectivity devices (switches, firewalls), and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS and routing rules.
• Experience with antivirus and antispam products
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to quickly learn new technology through self-study or instructor-led training
• Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to work well alone or in a team.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Pay Rate: $55,523 - $69,405 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
