Title: Technology Specialist

Job Summary

Using advanced tools and troubleshooting skills, the purpose of this job is to install, maintain, and manage the computers and required software, printers, audio/visual equipment and telephony for all faculty, staff and classrooms for the main campus of Jackson State Community College and its satellite campuses, Lexington, Savannah and Trenton with the focus on impeccable customer service.

Job Duties

  • Configure, install, maintain and repair all computers, printers and all other peripheral devices for faculty and staff offices and student labs/classrooms.
  • Configure, install and maintain all audio/visual equipment in all classrooms of the Main Campus and all satellite campuses of Jackson State Community College, including operation and updating all teleconference rooms using Zoom technology. Operate this technology during specialized events.
  • Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues, install new network switches with the aid of the Technology Services Manager, install network cable and wireless access points
  • Using databases created by our systems administrator, enter all data pertaining to items purchased for faculty and staff offices and classrooms, and maintain the integrity of the inventory
  • Install telephones, headsets and other telephony items when needed.
  • Assist in Active Directory working with user and computer accounts including testing software effects on new GPOs.
  • Assist with security issue such as viruses, electronic intrusion detection, operating system vulnerabilities, and data protection.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A.S. degree in Computer Information Systems, 1-3 years’ experience, valid TN Driver’s License mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and CompTia A+ certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills. Must be able to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Proficiency with Windows operating systems, network services, PC hardware, and software applications. Banner database experience or knowledge is a plus. Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Reasoning ability required in decision making, problem solving, and performing various tasks.
Office administration, customer service, time management, organizational, and scheduling skills required. Must be able to exercise ethics and maintain confidentiality.

Pay Rate:  $43,282 - $51,939 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
