The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is Tennessee's largest higher education system, governing 40 post-secondary educational institutions with over 200 teaching locations. The TBR system includes 13 community colleges and 27 colleges of applied technology, providing programs to students across the state, country and world.
POSITION SUMMARY This position provides support to students who require assistance operating the College’s learning systems. The tutor should be familiar with and capable of demonstrating how to use the various technologies commonly used by students at the College. These tools include myNSCC, D2L, the Office 365 suite, Zoom and digital textbooks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide both virtual and in-person assistance for students seeking guidance using digital course tools. Monitor and record attendance during scheduled hours. Collect feedback from students to inform future support efforts. Refer students needing additional assistance to the appropriate resource(s). Maintain professional and consistent communication with Learning Center Coordinator. Host workshops on digital course tools during peak times of the semester. Attend all mandatory trainings as part of the larger tutoring team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS An associate’s degree or higher
Access to a reliable internet connection in order to provide virtual drop-in and appointment-based support
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Some evening and weekend availability strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Familiarity with key digital course tools, such as D2L, Zoom, Office 365 and digital textbooks.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff and student populations.
Ability to work with a wide range of learners.
